A Big British Beefy Bear welcome!

Located on the south west coast of Great Britain, Bournemouth and the surrounding area is home to a large concentration of bears - but don’t take our word for it, come and visit and check out the gorgeous grizzlies for yourself!

Due to the increasing numbers of Bears on the south coast gay scene and in Bournemouth, a group of locals volunteered to form a club in order to organise events both in and out of gay Bournemouth for Bears, Cubs and admirers.

Fourth Fur-tastic Year!

Whilst some areas of the gay community seem to have stopped going out, Bears have increased in numbers. 2008 is our 4th year and we are still going strong!

Monthly Events

We've made some positive changes for 2008, the 4th year of South Coast Bears, to increase numbers of our already very popular night. Instead of one room for Bears we now fabulously sprawl all over The Branksome, our regular monthly venue. Now we can use all three bars: the main bar, garden bar with the 2nd Level bar upstairs for those that like a quieter chat. This allows more space for more Bear visitors and smokers can join the puffs in the garden! After this it's off to Bent Club until the early hours. All are welcome to our events: Bears, Cubs, admirers and you don't have to be furry to be a friend!

Annual Events

Our annual event the Bournemouth Bear Bash has proved very popular and grows in size every year. Our third Bear Bash event was held in 2007 over three days in July. Bear Bash 4 is planned for 25th, 26th and 27th July 2008.

Can I join as a member?

We have simplified the running of the club, and this means no membership is required, just come along.

Is there a charge?

We no longer charge a £2 entrance fee, instead we are looking into other ways of generating income (used for advertising the annual Bear Bash) such as revenue from our website.

We are soon introducing a new South Coast Bears Discount card, more details to follow here soon. We are also organising a special night for March 7th to celebrate our 4th year.

Club Constitution

Our Annual General Meeting is held at the start of each year, the committee are elected and any issues discussed and voted on. The next AGM is February 2008 at The Branksome, Bournemouth.
